Community rules and terms
Every member accepts these rules and terms when requesting to join, by ticking the box on the request form. This includes the limits of responsibility below.
Who runs the community
- The Global Parents Business Community ("GPBC") is an invitation-only initiative that originated among parents at CJD International School, Porto. The community charges no fees and does not provide professional services.
- It is run by its founders, David Demenashe and Gabrielle Ugan, and a small volunteer committee, through URBANIS – Demenashe e Rabinovich, Lda. (NIPC 518 355 462, Rua do Campo Lindo 340, Piso 2, 4200-144 Porto), which operates this page and the member registry (together, "the organizers"). CJD International School supports the community as a partner.
- Membership does not create a partnership, employment or agency relationship with the organizers or with CJD.
Membership
- Membership is by invitation and subject to approval.
- Membership is free.
- Membership does not guarantee business opportunities, referrals, clients, partnerships or revenue.
- CJD does not endorse, verify or take responsibility for the professional services offered by members.
- Members may request removal from the community database at any time.
Conduct
- Members communicate respectfully and professionally.
- Members are responsible for their own professional conduct, communication and business arrangements. Any business relationship between members is private and independent from the community.
- No spam, aggressive sales, unsolicited direct marketing or mass messaging.
- The community is not a lead-hunting platform. Members do not send unsolicited commercial messages to other members unless contact sharing was approved or started by the person receiving the message.
- Members do not claim or imply that CJD endorses, verifies or recommends their services.
Member data
- Member contact details may not be copied, exported, sold, shared or used for private campaigns.
- Contact details are shared between members only with consent.
Events and future activities
- Any future sponsorship, branded booth, speaking opportunity or paid event participation is subject to separate approval and conditions.
Your own decisions
- Talks, workshops, introductions and conversations in the community are general information only. They are not legal, tax, financial, investment, medical or other professional advice.
- Any business, investment or professional relationship you start with another member, a speaker or a guest is your own decision, made at your own risk, and is solely between you and that person.
- The organizers and CJD do not check members' qualifications, licences, insurance or claims, and do not guarantee any result. Check them yourself and get your own advice before you rely on anyone.
Confidentiality
- What members share at roundtables and private sessions stays in the room. You may use what you learn, but you do not reveal who said it without their permission.
- Member details, lists and private discussions may not be published, recorded or passed on outside the community.
Limits of responsibility
- The organizers are volunteers. To the fullest extent the law allows, the founders, URBANIS – Demenashe e Rabinovich, Lda., the committee, volunteers and speakers, CJD International School and its staff, and the companies they work for are not liable for any loss or damage arising from your membership, from events, or from your dealings with other members, speakers, guests, venues or other third parties. This includes loss of profit, business or opportunity, and indirect loss.
- You take part in events at your own risk, including travel, venues, food and your belongings.
- Nothing in these terms limits liability that the law does not allow to be limited, such as liability for intent or gross negligence, or for death or personal injury, or rights you have as a consumer that cannot be waived.
Your responsibility
- You are responsible for your own conduct, services and statements. If a claim is brought against the organizers or CJD because you broke these rules or the law, or because of your dealings with another member, you cover the resulting costs, as far as the law allows.
Leaving and removal
- You can leave at any time by writing to the committee. The committee may refuse a request, or suspend or remove a member, without having to give reasons. Leaving or removal does not end the confidentiality and responsibility terms above.
Changes and applicable law
- The organizers may update these terms. Members receive the new version by email at least 30 days before it applies and may leave before then. The version and date are shown at the top of this page, and each request records the version accepted.
- These terms are governed by Portuguese law. Disputes go to the courts of Porto, without prejudice to mandatory rules that protect consumers.
- If one term is found invalid, the others still apply.
